CYRUS MELCHOR
aka Mount Cyanide is an award winning music composer and producer. Fully proficient at writing for all instruments (contemporary, orchestral and electronic), performing on guitar, bass, keyboard, drum machine and mixing console - future-minded music is the goal. Respect for classical, hard beats, noise rock and experimental synthesis lends to the distinctive Mount Cyanide sound. He has banged beats on the MPC and/or manned the mixing console for Old Man Saxon, LLgL TNDR, Massive Attack, Blood of Abraham, J Dilla, Bell Biv DeVoe, KRS One, Maxim from the Prodigy, and many others. In 2006, Cyrus scored Coca Cola’s “Parade” advertisement which won him both the CLIO and AICP Award for Original Music Composing. He repeated these wins in 2012 with Johnny Walker’s “Step Together” ad. Super Bowl ads include Honda and Kia with Christopher Walken. For Spotify's Rap Caviar Pantheon event, Cyrus fused classical orchestration with Trap music and enlisted LA's top opera and orchestral musicians along with his MPC and booming 808's. Pantheon won a CLIO Music Silver Award. His first solo release, Mount Cyanide’s “The Home for Better Living," is a full length album of experimental instrumental music replete with homemade breakbeats, classical musicians and psychedelic synthesizers. Seven of those songs were licensed to CBS TV’s CSI series. Cyrus has composed four feature film scores: Chloe (2013), Sorceress (2017) , LFG (2021) for which he was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for Best Score and Who is Stan Smith? (2022). He's also scored multiple Nike documentaries, Hulu's Defining Moments with Ozy (2020), the theme song for PBS' Breaking Big TV series (2018) and Spotify's Silenced (2018). Having just wrapped on the score to the PBS series "The Express Way with Dule Hill," he's currently composing a documentary feature for Campfire Studios. Cyrus has recently been producing rapper Old Man Saxon and together they landed the coveted closing music for HBO's Silicon Valley - joining forces with hip hop greats like Nas, DJ Shadow and Run the Jewels on the soundtrack album for the show. Mount Cyanide is headquartered in Los Angeles, CA with a recording studio filled with high end equipment both mainstream and self-designed by Cyrus and his circuitry chops.
